Work In Progress

Perhaps I should tell you about how Jakob sketches when he draws comics. He is very fond of using blue pencils to do the initial lay out drawings. He uses Col-erase pencils, but usually he doesn't erase that much.
When sketching it's better to work your way towards the final image with patience, slowly sketching the primary shapes with very soft pressure on the pencil, and not make any dark lines until you're absolutely sure where you want them. When drawing figures, once again start out with the basic shapes. Leave the hair, clothes, fingers etc. until later. This technique resembles the way artists work with stones or clay. Slowly carve away layer after layer until you end up with the final figure. If you rush it, you're bound to make mistakes.
Working like this doesn't guarantee perfect images (hey, just look at some of the images on this homepage!), but in time you will learn a lot about shapes, perspective and construction - and your drawings will improve. And that's guaranteed!

Adia Fora - The Next Generation

Adia Fora - TNG

If you've seen the Adia Fora section of the comics on this homepage, you already know Rakel and Laban. This series picks up where the other left off almost three years ago, with new character designs, but equally insane stories.

Greek Tragedy

Greek T - 1
Greek T - 2

A short story Jakob drew while working in Greece. It's about empty people and isolated life in big cities. Not that Greek, but still inspired by the very polluted city of Athens.

Backflip

Backflip - initial concept sketches
Backflip - starship interior design
Backflip - character design

Backflip proved to become a larger story than Jakob first thought. When he made the first sketches the idea was to tell the story of an interstellar meeting, but the story soon grew completely out of dimensions, and within a month it would have had to be drawn in several albums. That's when Jakob decided to do the story as a novel. This is now also growing fast.

Great fun! A Comic Marathon means having exactly 24 hours to draw a complete story. To make it a little more challenging you can team up with a few friends and choose each other's titles. These images are from such a marathon and Jakob's title was "Fire Breath".
All the drawings are in blue pencil since there simply isn't enough time to clean up and colourize the images. As it turned out Jakob's story ended up being of a somewhat action inspired kind.
